Wash Away the Bigotry

"1Water is one of the most important things that we put on Atlas. Obviously, therefore, it needed to be placed carefully. Zupetro assigned me to the task, and I have taken it quite seriously. 2The Great Ocean I have molded with the intent that it be easily evaporated by the sun, thus allowing it to be turned into potable rain. 3Something must be done about the acids in what will be Akitrakina. They evaporate just as water and rain down to the planet. 4Mingling with the water would be a terrible thing. Therefore, I have set up a preliminary Committee for the Regulation and Control of the Weather on Atlas (CRCTA). 5It contains one mage of each of the five elemental powers: fire, water, earth, air, and life. Theoretically it could be done with only three of the elemental powers represented, but I have included all five in order to be considered unbiased. 6Water is, of course, one of the essential things necessary to maintain life. Although it is theoretically possible to create water via complex chemical processes, it is better to preserve the water that already exists in order to be safer."
-Quidro 1:1-6

I happen to agree with Quidro in the respect that water is important. I also agree with Quidro on the point of the CRCTA. The CRCTA certainly is an important thing to have, as it removes the harmful acids from the water that we drink. But that is not what I am going to focus on. I intend today to focus on the fact that he includes superfluous people in his committee so that he is not considered biased. This is a very important action of his in my opinion. He is not alone of the gods in that he is unbiased, but he is almost unique in that he goes out of his way to be unbiased. Throughout his book, this is shown repeatedly. In fact, the only other god who does this is Ketasolir, but he is always very polite. Quidro is unusually impolite in most circumstances. It seems to me that he is always very dry with his responses to questions he finds superfluous and he always responds dryly to superfluous actions other than those set out in order to be unbiased. This probably means that bigotry is one of the things that gives him the downs [i.e. cannot stand]. I believe also that bigotry and bias must be done away with, although from them I receive a lesser dose of the downs, but either way, biases must be eliminated. After all, bias is really just another form of discrimination. Discrimination, of course, is illegalized in Mageland, the Súderland, Tierra Nord, the Easterland, Islandia, Mahutia, Akitrakina, and the Westerland. It is considered criminal. In the Súderland, discrimination of most kinds is punishable by cruel death, usually starvation or the drowns [i.e. being put in a room which gets slowly filled with water until one drowns]. (I never did like King Ére'éne'ól.) Bias is simply a lesser form in some respects, and while it is natural to take a side in a situation, acting on biases against certain types of people certainly is racism, and could lead to discrimination. The book of Tremolo discusses a person called Atsarz Atrar who led much of the old world to its destruction in what is now called the Second War of the Old World. According to Tremolo, his actions were entirely based on bias towards the Rions (Many of the words of his Japanese are unclear or phonetic and may have not been correctly translated). Just remember, do not be Atsarz Atrar. Or King Ére'éne'ól.
